NATURE activities and guided walks are among the fun events which are taking place in Kinver this weekend.

Among the free wildlife fun from 6am until midnight on Saturday (May 14) will be the Kinver Edge BioBlitz – a race against the clock involving rangers, experts and members of the public to record as many different species as possible.

At the basecamp at the Warden’s Lodge, in Compton Road, there will be a pop-up laboratory where visitors can check-out creepy crawlies under microscopes, and look at the amazing things on the nature table, including snake skins and live moths.

Throughout the day there will also be nature-related crafts and activities for kids, such as making bird feeders and ‘Wild Art’.

Reptiles, birds, insects and plant searches, with a programme of expert-led walks, for the youngest right through to more experienced wildlife enthusiasts will also take place, as well as a 6am dawn chorus walk.

Helen Selkirk, visitor experience officer for Kinver Edge, said: “We know that a lot of people love to visit Kinver Edge for the breath-taking views and colourful heath.

“Now they have a unique chance to discover all the other animals that call this special place home. Find out what is flying above your head at night, and lurking in the heather.

“It’s also a great chance to meet the ranger here and ask about our conservation work.”
