KINVER beer will be delivered by canal boat to a popular beer and cider festival taking place this month.

The village-based brewery has previously delivered their beers by horse and dray to pubs in Kinver and by sack truck to the Constitutional Club – but never by boat.

But this year, three Kinver Brewery beers will be loaded at The Vine onto a Lacerta – an old Grand Union Canal Carrying Company narrowboat of 1935 vintage – before being taken down the Staffs and Worcs canal to Kidderminster Beer and Cider Festival.

The annual Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) festival is celebrating 250 years since the beginning of James Brindley’s canal and in the spirit of the occasion, arrangements have been made for the beers from its major sponsor to be delivered by boat.

The beer will be sent from Kinver on Monday, May 23, arriving later that day in Kidderminster, perfectly timed for the festival which is set to get underway at Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday, May 26, before it finishes on Saturday, May 28.

For more information about the event, with free entrance to CAMRA members, but costing £2 to non-members and £3 after 5pm on Friday, visit www.wyreforest.camra.org.uk.
