KINVER author A G Smith will be returning to the village library later this month to read his latest spooky ghost story.

The fantasy fiction writer, author of Harvester of the Now series, has been hosting chilling storytelling events at the village library for the last few years and he aims to terrify fans further with his latest offering - Experiment 41 - when he returns on November 22.

AG Smith, whose work has won praise from bestselling authors Anthony Horowitz, Cathy Rentzenbrink, Miranda Dickinson, Ian Thornton and Man Booker shortlisted Stephen Kelman, said: "This will be the fourth year that I have read for an audience at Kinver Library. They really are very special events here.

"Staffordshire Libraries always go that extra mile to make the evening memorable. As a local author I always love the chance to do a reading here in the village.

"Christmas is traditionally associated with ghost stories. M.R James and Charles Dickens all performed readings of their wonderful spine-chillers at Christmas and for many years the BBC continued this tradition with a Ghost Story for Christmas on the television. I hope that my readings recreate some of the magic of those fireside tales.

"This will be a real treat for anyone who loves a Christmas ghost story or just being scared. I believe that Experiment 41 is the most frightening story I have ever written.”

The event at Kinver Library, which starts at 7pm, follows An Evening of Delectable Terror, which the author staged together with Stourbridge actor Alan Birch at Stourbridge’s Bonded Warehouse on October 30 and which was attended by rock star Robert Plant.

The show is unsuitable for children under 12 or anyone of a nervous disposition.

Tickets, priced £5, are available from Kinver Library on 01384 872348.

People are advised to book early as tickets are expected to sell out.
