A PLAN to build ten new detached homes off Dark Lane in Kinver has been granted.

A proposal to build six four-bedroom homes, three three-bedroom properties and a two-bed bungalow on land belonging to Grey House has been approved by South Staffordshire District Council.

Villagers living nearby complained Dark Lane would be too narrow to accommodate the additional homes and they raised fears about extra traffic the development would create and the risks that would pose to dog walkers, hikers, residents and cyclists.

There were also concerns that vibrations from building work could affect nearby historic cottages sitting below a sandstone ridge.

But council planners gave the green light to the scheme at a meeting at the district council offices on December 20.

A long list of conditions, however, have been attached to the development which must get under way within three years.

A report submitted by Peter Brett Associates on behalf of the agent for the scheme - CJZ Design - said the scheme"would help meet the housing needs of South Staffordshire - creating a high quality residential environment which respects the character and amenities of its surroundings".
