A GROUP of intrepid Kinver women are set to scale Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise cash for a cause close to their hearts.

Members of Kinver Pre-school Playgroup committee and three members of staff will be hiking the 1,085-metres to the summit of Wales' highest peak on Saturday July 1.

They hope to raise around £1,000 between them for the pre-school to help buy new learning resources, outdoor play equipment and classroom furniture to help nurture the development of growing little ones.

Committee vice-chairman and mum-of-two Elizabeth Foster, whose four-year-old daughter Tayla attended the pre-school which has been going for more than 40 years, said: "It's a fantastic establishment for two to four-year-olds to begin their educational opportunities.

"We are all truly excited about this challenge and find it incredibly rewarding to know it will make a great difference to the children of Kinver Pre-school Playgroup."

Anyone wishing to make a donation to boost the team's fundraising efforts can do so online at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sarah-shelley-1.

The group, which also comprises Clare Walker, Karen Sheldon, Mary Barker, Samantha Yates, Amy Chandler and Sarah Shelly, have been taking part in regular walks over Kinver Edge in preparation for the challenge and Elizabeth added: "The whole team have shown great enthusiasm and are looking forward to braving the breathtaking heights of Snowdon."
