FIRE crews from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill were called out to tackle a severe blaze at a flat above a Lye restaurant this afternoon (Wednesday).

Up to 15 firefighters were involved in putting out the fire above Bengal Fusion restaurant in the High street.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said fire crews were called out at 12.55pm to the incident which involved a severe blaze in the front bedroom of the first floor flat.

The flames were out by 1.30pm but fire investigators were this afternoon at the scene trying to detemine how the blaze started.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also sent a rapid response vehicle to the incident but no one required treatment.
