Members were treated to a butterfly- themed party on August 2, to celebrate the 35th birthday of the club.

The late Harold Bolter created the club back in 1979, with the late Ethel Morgan being president for many years.

Funds to get the club started were from a huge jumble sale held at the local school, organised by his friends and neighbours.

Many of them still on the committee as founder members.

They include Irene Willetts, chairwoman, Dorothy Pritchard fundraiser, Mavis Johnson and Beaty Gale. Margaret Haywood is the only remaining founder club member and attends regularly.

Irene Willetts says the club meets monthly and can only remember it being cancelled five times in 35 years.

Members have light refreshments and entertainment at each meeting.

Special thanks must go to Mrs Pritchard for her raffle tables each month. Entertainment was by Kenny, a vocalist and Andor provided the catering.
