FREE computer workshops are on offer at libraries across Stourbridge next week to help people learn basic skills and get online.

The workshops are part of the nationwide Get Online Week and are run by Dudley Council’s library service and the adult and community learning team.

Sessions will show people how to use a computer and iPad, how to create an e-mail account and how to use Ancestry.com.

On Monday (October 13) iPad users can learn how to download apps at Stourbridge Library from 11am to 12noon.

Kingswinford Library will host a session to show people how to create an email account on Tuesday (October 14) from 10am to 11am.

Additionally, an iPad taster session at Wordsley Library will run from 10.30am to 12noon and Stourbridge Library will show people how to download eBooks from 11am to 12pm.

More iPad taster sessions will be available at Stourbridge Library from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesday (October 15) and Brierley Hill Library from 2pm to 4pm and people can learn basic computer skills at Wordsley Library from 3pm to 4pm.

Thursday (October 16) will see an online resources and eMagazines session at Brierley Hill Library from 10.30am to 12noon and iPad users can learn how to take and edit photographs at Stourbridge Library from 2pm to 5pm.

Those with an interest in tracking down their family tree can learn to use Ancestry.com at Lye Library on Friday (October 17) from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member responsible for lifelong learning, said: “As more and more services go online it’s more important than ever to have basic computer skills and I’m delighted that we can offer these free workshops to help people in the borough get started with these very essential skills.”
