CARING supermarket staff took time out of the aisles to help give the Salvation Army's Lye base a lick of paint.

Eight colleagues from Stourbridge's Tesco Extra, spruced up the hall, kitchen and toilets of the charity's High Street building on Tuesday morning (November 4).

The store not only supplied the manpower but also provided the paint and equipment.

Ed Dean, Salvation Army officer for Lye, said: "We got to know Tesco staff recently as we asked if we could collect outside the store.

"They then said they had some volunteers who were looking to do something to help us and when we said the building was looking a bit tatty inside, they offered to paint it.

"Our regular church members are really pleased with the result. It's great to see people doing something positive in the community and we are very grateful to them for giving their time."
