A LYE church will be hosting a weekly drop-in session for men suffering from depression, low mood or feeling socially isolated.
Christ Church in Lye High Street is inviting men of any ethnicity aged 18 years and over to attend the sessions, funded by the Black Country Near Neighbours Programme, which aim to promote community cohesion across different faiths.
Men of all faiths and none can drop in for a cuppa and light breakfast at the sessions, which will run each Monday from 10am to midday - starting from July 6.
Information and support will also be available to vulnerable men.
Rev Simon Falshaw, minister at Christ Church, said: “It is well known that around 75 per cent of suicides are men and that men are often reluctant to seek help, especially when they have a mental health condition, which can carry a certain stigma.
“This much needed initiative came about following discussions with local health professionals and faith leaders, where all parties agreed they need to work together to address the issue of socially isolated men and a need to provide a place for them to meet.”
