TRAIN services running through Lye were back on track this morning (Friday) after severe flooding left the town’s railway station looking more like a canal.
Heavy downpours last night (Thursday June 16) left Network Rail chiefs with no option but to suspend services running through the station last night from 5.45pm – but the line was re-opened in both directions at 8.20am today.
Media manager for Network Rail Simon Masters said there was still a speed limit in place in one direction – with trains travelling through the station, located next to the Conyers Trading Estate, restricted to 20mph instead of 30mph.
Streets across the Stourbridge, Lye, Brierley Hill and Quarry Bank areas were turned into lakes during last night's deluge.
