LYE Town are hoping to reproduce their good away form as they aim for their first home win of the season this weekend.

Town are facing their first Midland League match at their Stourbridge Road ground on Saturday (3pm) where they are up against 16th in the league Heanor Town, before another home tie on Tuesday night against Long Eaton United.

Two dominant performances against Highgate United in the last couple of matches have left chairman Brian Blakemore in high spirits, despite the mixed final results.

The team went down 2-0 in the FA Vase on Saturday, but avenged the defeat with a 3-0 victory in the league on Tuesday night.

Blakemore said: “We are disappointed to be out of the Vase as it’s a competition that we have struggled to progress in the past couple of years, and this year we had hoped to have a good run.

“We actually dominated the game but just couldn’t finish. We didn’t play badly and had more than enough chances to win.

“But in the game on Tuesday night if the score would have been 6-0 it wouldn’t have been a surprise, because once again we again had so many good chances.

“We should have been three up by half time, but we came out really well in the second half and played the game at a much better tempo.

“Playing two games a week is taking its toll on the team and we are picking up a few injuries, but we are fairly confident going that we can carry on our good form into the games this week.

“From playing Heanor Town last season they are a decent side and have had some good results recently, but if we continue to create chances as we have been we should be fine.”

Ben Jeavons and Dan Jones (ankle) are questionable for Saturday’s match, while Simon Williams (holiday) and Kalum Evitts will be missing.
