THE Friends of Lye and Wollescote Cemetery are holding an open day on Saturday September 2.
Taking place in the cemetery grounds off Cemetery Road, Lye, from 10am to 3pm, the free event will include guided walks throughout the day, a children's nature trail with sweets and there will also be local books for sale and refreshments available.
A history of the headstones walk takes place at 10.30am and 12.30pm, a short walk highlighting local people of note will take place at 11.30am and 1.30pm and a walk looking at plants and poetry will take place at 12.30pm.
Sue Smith, secretary of the Friends group, said: "This will be an interesting and fun day for those wishing to find out a little more of our local history, and perhaps for the Friends to learn more too."
