INTREPID Seb Soukup sets off for Russia this Saturday (June 22) to climb the highest mountain in Europe.

Seb will be attempting to conquor Mount Elbrus, part of the western Caucasus mountain range situated on the southern Russian border with Georgia.

The 24-year-old from Norton will be hoping to boost the funds of Medicins Sans Frontieres at the same time, which is a multi national humanitarian aid organisation.

Seb said: “To put things into perspective, Mount Elbrus is over four times the height of Ben Nevis at around 18,500 ft.

“I was introduced to Medicins Sans Frontieres by a former teacher. It’s a great charity and I’m trying to raise funds for them, but also to increase their profile.

“Mount Elbrus is one of the seven summits and it’s a bit of an ambition of mine to climb them all.

“I completed the Three Peaks Challenge in April, but nothing prepares you for this.

“Sometimes it’s very easy to cruise through life and I wanted to do something that would test me.”

Seb is well known in sports circles as a cricketer with both Oldswinford and Old Hill.
