THE chairman, Helen Greenway, welcomed members and five visitors to the meeting.

The secretary, Margaret Brooks, and the treasurer, Rosemary Bell, gave their respective reports of the previous month. Joyce Knotts gave a report on the Federation meeting.

A birthday card had been sent to Iris Masters, a former president, on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

Photographs of the recent race day were being sent to the Townswoman magazine and to head office for inclusion on the website.

Dates for the diary are the arts and crafts Christmas workshop on November 21, the harvest lunch at Wollaston Village Hall on October 7 and the annual carol service at St Thomas’s Church, Stourbridge is on December 12.

Unfortunately, the national carol service in Birmingham is fully booked. At last year’s St George’s Day event, Joyce Knotts won the raffle prize given by Lord Cobham to visit the park, which is currently being renovated.

This visit, with three friends, took place on July 10 this year and was extremely enjoyable with afternoon tea and being driven round in a buggy. Sandra Matchett, who represented the Federation at the National AGM in Glasgow, gave an excellent report on the day’s proceedings.

A few members are going to Hereford on September 9.

Rambles have taken place over the last few weeks to various places in the area. The speaker was Ruth Lowe, who gave a fascinating insight into the life and work of Mary Quant.

The raffle prize was won by Sandra Matchett.

The next meeting will be on September 22, when Rosemary Winnall will talk about Life in the Wild Wood.

Mrs Winnall’s photography is excellent and we would welcome visitors who would care to join us and enjoy this subject.
