AFTER being closed on two weekends already this year, the main Heath Lane entrance to Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Park is to close twice during April.

As part of the £3.1 million improvement, visitors will again be denied access to the park via the access point for two weekends to accommodate work around the historic main gates.

The Heath Lane entrance will be closed on Saturday (April 2), Sunday (April 3), April 16 and April 17, but visitors can still access the park via the Stanley Road entrance as normal throughout the two weekends.

Dudley Council say the programme of work as part of the ongoing restoration, including changes to the park’s railings, bandstand, war memorial and pool, is nearing completion.

Matt Williams, chief officer for environmental services, said: “We are getting closer and closer to the finish line now, when all of the restoration work will be complete.

“I extend our sincere thanks in advance to the public for bearing with us during these temporary changes to our usual operations.”

The Heath Lane entrance will be re-opened to pedestrians and vehicles on Mondays April 4 and 18.
