POLICE say they have arrested two men in connection with suspected armed raids at shops in the Stourbridge area last night (Monday April 18).

Officers were alerted to a robbery just before 10.30pm at Tesco Express in Platts Road, Amblecote, where it is believed a cashier was threatened with a firearm concealed inside a bag.

It is understood masked men had also struck minutes earlier at a Co-Op store in The Broadway, Norton.

Cash was taken in both raids.

Detective Sergeant Kerrie Scriven from Dudley Police said: “No-one was injured at either store but understandably staff who came face-to-face with these men and were threatened have been left badly shaken.”

Two men, aged 27 and 25, were arrested shortly afterwards in Bedcote Place.

Both are currently being held in police custody on suspicion of robbery.

Police still want to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have information about the raids. People are asked to call the investigation team at Dudley Police on the 101 number.
