PARK rangers are calling on people from across Dudley borough to get involved in the planning and planting of a new community orchard.

A new project at Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Park is inviting people to grow their own trees in the park for the whole area to enjoy.

On Thursday May 12, accredited specialists from the Royal Horticultural Society will be at the park’s activity centre to give out advice and help.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to learn new skills and get involved in planning the orchard before it is planted in December.

Alan Lunt, strategic director at Dudley Council, said: “Mary Stevens Park is a beautiful open space for members of the public, of all ages to enjoy.

“This event offers a rare opportunity for anyone to get involved in shaping their local park, get hands on experience and to take home skills in how to plant and grow their own fruit.”
