STOURBRIDGE was greeted by a sea of Santas this weekend as Mary Stevens Hospice supporters turned out in force for the annual Santa Jog.
Despite the cold conditions, more than 750 people – the event’s highest ever number of entrants – swarmed in Mary Stevens Park on Sunday for the 5K run.
Luckily the rain held off for the run, but the wet and hilly ground made for some tricky moments for the runners.
Amanda Bowen, community engagement officer at Mary Stevens Hospice, said the organisers were “blown away” by the support.
She added: “It was by far the most people we've ever had take part in the Santa Jog and it was such a magical day. We were blown away from start to finish.
“Everyone we spoke to said how much they’d enjoyed it.
"We're incredibly grateful to everyone that made the day possible, and to our community for supporting the event in such numbers.
“We just can't wait for next year now.”
Last year’s jog was able to raise more than £12,000 for the Hagley Road hospice.
With sponsorship money still to come in for this year’s run, it will be an anxious wait to see if the charity can beat the amount this time out.
