PEDMORE Men’s Club has marked the end of its 50th anniversary year by donating £675 to Mary Steven’s Hospice.

The money, which was raised by club members at monthly raffles and a 50th anniversary celebration dinner in April, was handed over to the hospice’s deputy fundraising manager, Amanda Bowen, at the club’s AGM on May 25.

The donation will help to buy an inflatable marquee, which the Oldswinford hospice will use for its own fundraising events as well as hiring it out to other organisations.

Chairman Roy Hedley thanked Amanda and her colleagues - staff and volunteers - who raise funds as well as those who provide medical, nursing care and companionship for all the work they do.

The club meets for talks (and a drink and a chat) on the fourth Thursday of the month from September to March in the Pedmore Cricket Club pavilion, Pedmore Lane.

Anyone interested in joining can call the chairman on 01562 884563 or go to www.pedmoremensclub.co.uk – or just turn up.

The next meeting will be on September 28, starting at 8pm.
