OLDSWINFORD school staff and pupils are getting set for annual heart tests which could prevent a tragedy.

More than 100 people aged between 14 and 35 at Old Swinford Hospital School, Heath Lane, will be screened by charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for heart abnormalities.

The tests, which will take place on Tuesday March 12, will involve an electrocardiogram (ECG) which records the electrical activity of the heart.

The ECG results will then be examined by medics looking for previously undetected heart problems.

Every week in the UK, 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition.
