A BLACK Country hospice is gearing up to hold a new ladies only moonlit fundraiser to help pull in charity cash.

Mary Stevens Hospice's Moonlight Memories Walk will be held on Saturday May 11 at DK Rugby Club, Wall Heath, home of the Dudley Kingswinford Vixens ladies rugby squad who are backing the event.

Community team members from ASDA are also on board to support the event which has been organised following a series of successful Midnight Walks held in aid of the Stourbridge hospice over the last few years.

Vicki Rowles, head of fundraising at the Hagley Road hospice, said: "We are so excited that the ASDA community teams from across the borough will be joining forces with us to promote one of our key events.

“We are looking forward to not only a fabulous night, but also an opportunity for local ladies to remember lost loved ones.”

The sponsored 6.5-mile walk, which will kick off with a mass warm up at 7pm, will start and finish at the Swindon Road home of the Vixens and Wordsley-born professional rugby star James Percival will ‘cut the ribbon’ to get the event underway at 7.30pm.

Women of all ages are invited to take part.

Entrants must be over 12, and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration costs £12 per person and places can be booked online at www.marystevenshospice.co.uk or by calling the fundraising office on 01384 377778.

Moonlight Walk merchandise is also available online or from the fundraising office.
