AWARD-WINNING and critically acclaimed concert pianist Margaret Fingerhut returned to Old Swinford Hospital in Stourbridge to perform in a recital with other accomplished musicians.

Margaret, who is regarded as one of the most poetic pianists of her generation, teamed up with renowned horn player Peter Francomb and violinist Bradley Creswick for a concert in the Heath Lane school's Great Hall on November 27.

The following day (November 28) all three musical maestros held free masterclasses for piano players and brass and upper string musicians.

Students were then invited to perform in front of the acclaimed trio and were given constructive and friendly advice on how to improve their techniques, performance and interpretations.

Margaret, who has captivated audiences across the world with her recital programmes, has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and many more as a concert soloist.

She also taught piano at the Royal Northern College of Music for many years and is currently visiting tutor at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Peter Francombe has just celebrated 25 years as principal horn with the Northern Sinfonia, while violinist Bradley Creswick studied at the Royal College of Music and is leader of the Northern Sinfonia.
