OLDSWINFORD Galleries were overwhelmed when they staged a charity evening for the NSPCC at their Hagley Road premises.
The crowds were so great, customers queued outside the shop just to get in.
Star attraction was Annie Sloan, who is regarded as a pioneer in the world of furniture painting and who was on hand to offer advice and encourage visitors to paint their own heart or star in return for a donation to the charity which exists to help prevent child abuse.
Proprietor Juliet Walker admitted to being 'gobsmacked' at the amount of people who turned up and said: "There were queues outside the shop and up the stairs. It was way beyond anyone's expectations.
"I was hoping to raise about £250 on the night, but we've gone well beyond that figure and the total continues to rise.
"In fact it was so successful we're going to carry on raising money for the NSPCC right up until Christmas."
Oldswinford Galleries is open from 9am until 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday if anyone would like to donate further.
