The meeting was opened by chairman Pauline Roberts on March 18.

There were ten apologies and a new member Isobel Lamb, was welcomed.

Margaret Fennell reported on the state of the funds, reporting that Michael Coggins had done the audit.

We were reminded that the audited balance sheet was pinned on the notice board.

Joyce Coggins presented her annual report on the group activities.

Pauline presented her chairman’s report. Margaret Fennell was duly appointed as the group president for the year and was presented with her badge of office. The overall winner of the monthly competitions was announced as Lorna Stevens.

Members were reminded that the April meeting was the annual luncheon, which was being held at Hagley Golf and Country Club on April 21.

Details were given regarding the Race Day at Wollaston. Scrabble group would be meeting on March 24 at the usual venue. The ramble the next day, to Arley was being organised by Margaret Broome, meeting at 9.30am. The annual outing will be on June 17 to Berrington and then, perhaps, time in Ludlow.

Members were reminded to put their names on the list.

Pauline then introduced the speaker, John Mobberley with the topic “Remember when”. John gave an amusing talk of life during the early 1940s, showing items from that period, reminding many of the members of the life during that time.

This was enjoyed by everyone and a vote of thanks was given.

The raffle for the evening was won by Joyce Coggins and Vivian Dodson.

The next meeting will be on May 19 at Oldswinford Primary School, Field Lane at 7.30pm. Visitors are made most welcome.
