A HIDDEN treasure of a Halesowen garden is to open to the public to raise money for Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Hospice.

Green-fingered supporters Ron and Anne Kerr have been opening the garden at their Waxland Road home since 2003 and have raised more than £3,000 for the Hagley Road hospice.

The couple created the oasis from a neglected wilderness after moving there in 2001.

The deceptively large plot features a competition-winning waterfall which cascades over rocks and into ponds set in a woodland.

A pathway meandering through the trees reveals a hidden area with greenhouses, fruit and vegetable gardens, asparagus beds and mixed borders.

Beyond this, the garden also has countryside views which can be enjoyed from the semi-tropical decking area.

Mary Stevens’ community fundraiser Lucy Baylis said: "We are really grateful to Ron and Anne for their kind and continued support. The garden is spectacular and I just hope the sun will be shinning for it to be seen in its full glory."

The garden, at 20 Waxland Road, will be open on Sunday June 7 between 1pm and 5pm.

A £3 entrance charge will go to the hospice as well as money raised from refreshments sales.
