OLD Swinford Hospital in Stourbridge has been celebrating another impressive set of A-level results.

The pass rate at the Heath Lane school this time was 98 per cent and around a quarter of grades achieved were A*s or As.

Headmaster Paul Kilbride said “I am very pleased with this year’s A-level results which are a tribute to the hard work of pupils and staff alike.

"Alongside their involvement in sport, music and drama, this year’s leavers have demonstrated particular strengths in mathematics and the sciences.

"At a time when the country has a great need for scientists, engineers and problem-solvers we are sending almost three quarters of our students to study related disciplines at university.

This year's star pupils include: Ieuan Wilkes from Kingswinford who will study physics at Oxford, Anand Morarji from Cradley Heath who will study medicine at Birmingham, Hannah Sharkey from Stourbridge who will study veterinary science at Liverpool, and Rohana Still from Stourbridge who will study maritime engineering at Southampton.

Meanwhile Luke Wilson from Kingswinford is set to study history at the London School of Economics and Will Croft from Stourbridge will study music at Oxford.
