OLDSWINFORD Cross has proved a brighter place this festive period thanks to funding from the Community Forum.

Following an application from local traders, the Forum was able to allocate £5,000 to help pay for Christmas lights and decorations.

Local councillor Les Jones said: "We gave money last year because it helps improve the economic vitality of the area.

"Previously we only gave the money to town centre locations but local shopping centres are equally important to people and the lights add a certain festive charm."

Stourbridge MP Margot James, who has a home in Oldswinford, said: "I am delighted to see that new Christmas lights now take pride of place in Oldswinford Cross.

"It is excellent to see the area looking so bright and festive this year."
