MARY Stevens Hospice is set to be given a generous musical boost thanks to the local Got 2 Sing community choir.

Comprising members from its Stourbridge and Wolverhampton groups, the choir will be performing an evening of summer sounds at Dudley Town Hall on Saturday (July 16) in support of the Hagley Road charity.

Funds collected at the event will help the charity in its bid to raise an extra £3 million this year for the regeneration of their day services unit.

Beth Dunn, founder and director of Got 2 Sing said: “It promises to be a truly ‘feel good’ evening. Not only will concert-goers be in for an evening of entertainment, but we will also be supporting a very worthy charity.

“We also want to get across to people the extraordinary story of how singing can transform people’s lives by bringing health benefits that are not just physical but psychological too.

“We hope to have the audience rocking in the aisles and I hope it benefits Mary Stevens Hospice hugely.”

The hospice provides invaluable support for people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses from its base in Oldswinford.

Charlotte Schofield, head of fundraising and lottery at Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “It's obviously a massive privilege to have the support of a fantastic organisation like Got 2 Sing, and a real treat for us all that they’re performing so close to home on Saturday.

“Having been lucky enough to see them a few times myself, I know that the hundreds of people that have already bought tickets will have such a wonderful evening and there won't be a single person still in their seat by the end of the concert.”

The choir's repertoire will include classics including ‘A Little Respect,’ ‘Walking Back to Happiness,’ ‘One Day Like This,’ and ‘Wings’.

It is not the first time Got 2 Sing have helped the local cause this year; on July 2 and 3 the choir performed live at intu Merry Hill alongside hospice fundraisers who collected more than £200 in donations.
