ONE of Stourbridge's longest serving businessmen has died at the age of 80.

Patrick Hill founded carpet and furnishing store Hammond Hill Limited in Market Street along with partner Stan Hammond back in 1970.

It is now one of Stourbridge's oldest shops.

A popular and well-known figure throughout the Stourbridge commercial community, Mr Hill was an avid walker and member of Stourbridge Rambling Club. He was also involved with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Born and bred in Stourbridge, he lived at Chaffinch Road, Pedmore.

He leaves a wife Nan, two sons Julian and Simon, daughters in law Beverley and Lynda plus grandchildren Nick, Alison, Thomas and Ellie.

His funeral will take place at Stourbridge Crematorium on Wednesday October 8 at 11.40am.
