A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Wollescote appeared in court on Monday morning in connection with a hit and run incident which critically injured 15-year-old Claudia Visser.
Adnan Ajram, a car valeter of Careless Green, was in the dock at Dudley Magistrates Court, charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, being unfit to drive through drink or drugs and other driving offences.
The charges relate to the hit and run that occurred outside Pedmore Technology College and Community School, on Thursday, December 17, in which the Redhill School pupil suffered critical injuries.
An off-duty West Midlands Police officer found Claudia in Grange Lane just before 10pm, before calling West Midlands Ambulance Service to the scene, which sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and two ambulance officers.
The teen was rushed to Russells Hall Hospital before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for specialist care after suffering from broken legs, a fractured skull and internal injuries.
Claudia remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Ajram will remain in custody before going before a judge at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday March 14.
Anyone with further information which could help the police investigation are urged to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
