STUDENTS at Pedmore Technology College in Stourbridge brought history to life when they staged a medieval festival and banquet before breaking up for the holiday.

Youngsters in year seven at the Grange Lane school donned period costumes and tucked into sweet and savoury foods of the era that they had made especially for the event on Monday July 18 which marked the end of a summer history project.

They also made trebuchets, stilts and musical items in their product design lessons; and hats, tabards and flags in textiles classes in the run-up to the event - taking inspiriation from a visit to Warwick Castle at the start of the eight-week project.

Kate Hunter, head of art and design technology at the school, said: “As a department we have been encouraged and amazed by the students’ enthusiasm, motivation and creativity.

“This has driven us to plan for future projects to include other year groups and departments for next year.”
