TWO Stourbridge brownie and guide units could be forced to close unless new leaders can be found.

Hit by a shortage of leaders, 3rd Pedmore Brownies and 1st Pedmore Guides - part of Hagley Division Guiding - are seeking new temporary or permanent volunteers over the age of 18 to help run activities.

Leanne Fitzgerald, division marketing and communications advisor, said: “Currently existing leaders from other units have been supporting the units but that’s not a viable long term solution.”

Roles available range from the non-uniformed post of unit helper through to the more time-consuming uniformed positions of assistant guider and guider in charge - the latter of which is responsible for running the whole unit.

Leanne added: “It can be as simple as coming along to help out all the way up to leading the unit. No previous experience is required just a cool head and the ability to let go and have a bit of fun.”

All units are currently closed for the summer holidays but will re-open in September.

Meeting locations and times vary across the division, but all are held on week day evenings during term time - between 6pm and 9pm. Most units meet for just an hour each week.
