SPORTING fundraisers notched up a big score at a cricket fundraising day in memory of a tragic team-mate.
Oldswinford Cricket Club raised £1,300 for Russell's Hall Hospital's Georgina Unit at an event in September, in memory of Adam Scott, known at the club as Paddy, who died aged 25 in July.
The fundraising day featured a six-a-side tournament with teams from Oldswinford, Enville and Cookley Cricket Clubs plus junior games,a barbecue and raffle.
Club secretary, Ken Slater, said: "The fund raising day was Paddy's idea and he had started the ball rolling before events overtook him.
"Paddy was a very talented bowler and a much valued club member was always well supported by his family.
"He was diagnosed with cancer in the autumn of last year but responded well to treatment and played for the club until May of this year."
