A BLACK Country comedy sensation created by Quarry Bank playwright David Tristram is getting set to hit the airwaves after landing a slot on BBC Radio WM.

The spoof character, who has gone from strength to strength since she was first unveiled in mockumentary style YouTube video ‘ Lazy Cow’ which went viral, is set to take over the mic for a series of shows on the local BBC station.

Dates have yet to be confirmed but the shows promise to include spoof news and sport items, guest interviews, interaction with the public on a variety of topics, dedications and a Dear Doreen agony aunt section.

And fans of the comedy queen – played by Walsall actress Gill Jordan – are invited to get in touch about any problems they need help with, any questions they would like answered, any dedications they’d like to hear on the radio or anything they’re keen to rant about for a feature called “Doh get me started…”

People can email in to doreen@bbc.co.uk Meanwhile – the popular character is getting set for further live performances of Doreen’s Grand Night Out throughout September and October at venues in Kidderminster, Netherton, Rugeley, Bridgnorth and Walsall – all of which have sold out. Just a few tickets remain for her outing at The Palace Theatre, Redditch, on September 22.
