PLANS to turn a former Quarry Bank wine bar into a restaurant will be made at a later date after they were put on hold for a site visit to take place.

Husna Bibi has applied turn the empty unit in Quarry Bank High Street into a new eatery and the proposal was discussed at length at Dudley’s latest development control committee meeting.

But councillors decided to put off making a decision until they had visited the site, which backs onto a block of flats in Victoria Road.

A number of residents have objected to the scheme as has ward councillor Bryan Cotterill who told Monday’s meeting at the Council House that residents should not be subjected “to live in accommodation that’s facing a flue”.

He also said the garden at the back of the property was over-run with rats.

The plan is expected to come back to the committee at a later date.
