There were 24 members present at the July meeting. They were welcomed by Vera Raybould who this evening was in the chair.

As always the meeting began with the reading and signing of last month’s minutes. The treasurer’s report was also given.

Mrs Raybould have information from her recent Federation visit.

We were told that the art and crafts exhibition went very well, all in anyway concerned were thanked.

Apparently the National AGM, held at Glasgow, was not as well supported as it usually is.

Social secretary Margaret Writtle told members that the coach provided for the visit to Stone Manor would leave Quarry Bank at 2pm.

Mrs Writtle gave information regarding a proposed visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, hopefully, on September 22, but in order to go ahead there would need to be sufficient people interested to make the visit viable.

The speaker for the evening was Ann Welch, who is head of Clinic Action Heart.

A most knowledgeable lady, she gave us much to think about both in general health matters and also ways in which dangers to our hearts can be minimised and emphasised the need for exercise for everyone.

On August 18, Pat Green will give a talk on “Memories of Gran”.
