THE uplifting sounds of a top regional concert band is set to get Quarry Bank park-goers in the mood for the summer.

Stevens Park is set to welcome volunteer community group West Midlands Concert Band to its bandstand for a show on Sunday (June 12), between 2.30pm and 5pm.

Featuring musicians of all ages, the band will perform well known songs that people will know and love, from classic films to marching pieces and classical adaptations.

People are being encouraged to bring along deckchairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the afternoon.

Later in the month, BJ Concert Band will perform a feet tapping ensemble of swing music, marches and music from film and stage at Himley Hall and Park.

The concert, on Sunday June 19, from 2.30 to 5pm, will take place in the charming surroundings on the lawns within the hall’s courtyard.

Refreshments will be available to purchase during the event from the hall’s tea room between 2pm and 4.30pm.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said: “These concerts provide a wonderful opportunity to not only enjoy a variety of music but to enjoy some of the borough’s beautiful outdoor green spaces.

“Plus they are free so are a great way to entertain the whole family on a summer’s afternoon.”

Himley Hall and Park will also host Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass Band on Sunday July 17 and the Black Country Ukulele Band on Sunday August 7, while concerts will also be taking place at Mary Stevens Park, in Stourbridge, during the summer months.
