After greeting all of those present at the May meeting, chairman Vera Wright set a topical flavour to the meeting by reading her own poem, "Reflections on our visit to Buckingham Palace".

"To London to see the Queen" read in Vera's own amusing style. The poem explained that although they didn't succeed in seeing the Queen, a great time was had by all.

The meeting continued in the usual way, with the reading and signing of last month's minutes and treasurer's report.

Vera Raybould gave information on her recent federation meeting and social secretary Margaret Writtle on the arranged visit to the carpet factory in Kidderminster. Transport will be provided by members.

A visit is also arranged to take afternoon tea at Dunsley Hall on June 25. Names were taken of people wishing to be included.

The birthday lunch at the Granary was reported to have been most successful, this was the guild's 50th anniversary, and featured two original founders Margaret Writtle and Gwen Rowley.

Margaret Bunn had provided a most impressive birthday cake, delicious slices of which were enjoyed at the party.

The next activity was a quiz presented by Vera Raybould on currency before decimalisation.
