THE trial of a Dudley man accused of murdering 24-year-old Stourbridge footballer Ryan Passey at a town nightspot is set to start today (Thursday January 25).
Kobe Murray, aged 19, of The Broadway, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court via video link on September 5.
His trial, expected to last two weeks, was due to start yesterday (Wednesday January 24) as the jury was sworn in but proceedings were deferred from getting under way until this morning.
Ryan, of Stockwell Avenue, Quarry Bank, who had played for a number of borough football clubs, died in hospital after he was stabbed in Chicago’s in The Ryemarket on August 6 2017.
