FRIENDS and family of Ryan Passey took along a giant flag bearing an image of the popular Black Country footballer to Saturday’s Wolves match at Molineux in a bid to keep his memory alive.

Friend Craig Simpson, aged 27, had the huge banner created to take to the Wolves v Sheffield United match.

Craig, from Caledonia, said: “We always go up to the Wolves and Ryan used to come up with us. We’ve been lost without him.”

He said a company called Barmy Flags made the giant Wolves coloured banner which more than 30 friends and relatives took to the game which Wolverhampton Wanderers won 3-0.

Craig added: “It’s the only time we’re doing well and Ryan’s not here to see it. Since I’ve been young I’ve never seen the Wolves doing well.”

The football team is currently riding high - and on course for promotion to the Premier League.

Ryan's friends now hope to take the huge flag with them to matches whenever they can to help keep the former Wren's Nest FC mid-fielder's spirit with them.

Stourbridge News: Undated family handout photo issued by West Midlands Police of murder victim Ryan Passey, 24, who was stabbed in the chest at Chicago’s club in Stourbridge.

The 24-year-old Quarry Bank window cleaner (pictured above) was remembered in a poignant minute’s applause at Molineux back in September following his tragic death last August in Chicago’s nightclub, Stourbridge, where he was stabbed in the chest with a flick knife.

Kobe Murray, aged 19, of The Broadway, Dudley, is currently standing trial for his murder.

The jury was sent out on Monday to consider the evidence.
