STOURBRIDGE Palestine Solidarity Group will be holding a peace and justice vigil in Dudley this evening (Friday August 1) to show their support for the people of Gaza.

Members of the group will be joining forces with mosque goers from around the borough to stage the vigil in Stone Street Square from 5.30pm to call for an end to the massacre in Gaza and for sanctions against Israel.

Pauline Faux from Stourbridge Solidarity Support Group, said: “All inter faith parties and local MPs have been invited.”

The national Palestine Solidarity Campaign has criticised Prime Minister David Cameron for failing to act on the issue.

Hugh Lanning, campaign chairman, said: “It is an outrage that the British Government is standing by whilst Israel slaughters Palestinians. The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has failed to listen to the voices of hundreds and thousands of British people who have taken to the streets. He has failed to stand up for an occupied people being ruthlessly murdered by an occupying power.

“The Prime Minister has weakly accepted the US’ political position, which is totally out-of-step with the mood of this country. It is time for firm action consistent with international law.”

The group is demanding an end to the massacre, which has seen at least 1,373 people killed and thousands injured, as well as an immediate total arms embargo on Israel and sanctions until the occupation of Gaza ends.
