Black Country Society The AGM of the Kingswinford Branch was held on Wednesday June 18 at St Mary’s Church.

The chairman John White welcomed everyone and gave apologies for Stan Hill, president of the branch as he has not been well.

She also welcomed president and chairman of the main society Michael Hill and James Morgan.

The speaker after the AGM was John Sparry from Wall Heath. He is well known for his many varied talks which he gives in the area. He gave an interesting talk about words and phrases, their origins and how many sayings come into everyday life.

An excellent buffet followed the talk.

The new season opens on September 17 when the speaker will be Diana Clutterbuck with her talk on “Emily Lyttleton (nee Pepys), young diarist of Hartlebury and Hagley”.

The October 15 meeting will have speaker Anthony Collis who will talk about pub signs of the Black Country.

Talks are open to members and non members with a small charge to cover expenses.

All meetings take place at the church hall behind St MAry’s Church, Kingswinford at 7.45pm.
