US pop rockers Wheatus will make their debut at a Stourbridge music venue next week.

The four-piece punk pop outfit from New York, famed for their Teenage Dirtbag ditty from 2000, will be playing at the River Rooms on Tuesday September 23.

Venue owner Mark Ellis said: "It's their first time ever in Stourbridge and we're really excited. They normally go to Wolverhampton or Birmingham or the big cities."

The American rockers, fronted by Brendan B Brown, enjoyed worldwide success with their debut album which sold more than three million copies, but they now write, record and release music through their website http://www.wheatus.com/

Popular Black Country band Of Kings and Captains were due to support the band at the River Rooms but Late Cambrian, Gabrielle Sterbenz and rapper MC Frontalot will instead be taking over the slot.

Of Kings and Captains, who last year supported Bon Jovi on the band's UK stadium tour, said on Facebook: "We've put in an awful amount of effort promoting and rehearsing for what would have been a great night and are truly gutted at this news."

The River Rooms have promised refunds to music fans who were planning to attend the show to see Of Kings and Captains and the venue has also promised the band another slot soon.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and Wheatus are expected to take to the stage at around 9pm.

Tickets will be available on the door, priced £12 each, although they are expected to sell out.
