The 130th AGM was held on October 6 and the president, Tony Bridgewater welcomed the members.

He reported that we had had a very enjoyable year, rehearsing and performing in our concerts. Two of our members, the conductor, Martin Sleaford and his wife, flautist Bryony had a baby, Ebony. A choir member, Emily Payne became Mrs Walton. We also have to report the deaths of members Oenone Dawson (cello), Joan Best (violin), Alun Davies (choir) and Chris Berry (tickets, archivist, designer of displays, supporter and ideas man).

The next concert will be on November 15 in the Furnace theatre at 6.30 pm. We will be commemorating WW1 with music, songs, flags, displays, photos and poetry. Tickets (£10 + concessions.) from 01384 373111 or Music Matters, Market Street or on the door. Come in Edwardian dress or services dress prepared to join in with the singing.

There will be the first performance of a new work by local composer, Bob Birch called Black Country Recollections. There will be a display of poppies made by Wollaston Guides, the U3A crocheting group and local people.
