HUNDREDS of Santa Clauses came to town on Sunday to raise £10,000 for Mary Steven's Hospice.

Mary Stevens Park was awash with festive fundraisers and their four-legged companions for the annual Santa Jog.

A mass warm-up, led by Gemma Calvery from The Fitness Factory in Stourbridge, got everyone limbered up before they put their best foot forward to complete the 5K route.

More than 400 people and 50 dogs took part, including members of Lye's Slimming World group, who were hoping to burn off a few extra pounds.

Consultant Charlotte Tibbetts said: "I'm so proud of them as many of them could not run before their slimming success."

Sue Williams, from Clent, who sits on the hospice's fundraising committee, rallied a group of her friends together to take part.

The pals have raised more than £1,000 and had "a wonderful time", according to Mrs Williams.

Lucy Baylis, community fundraiser at the Hagley Road hospice, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in the event, it was great to see so many enthusiastic supporters helping their hospice in such a fantastically festive way.”

All funds raised will go towards the hospice's annual £2.5 million running costs.
