THE deadline is approaching for green fingered folk to get their plant sale orders in to help the Stourbridge News Well of Life appeal.

Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions Club will be looking to raise plenty of cash for our appeal from their popular plant sale.

The plants are pre-ordered online and Lions chairman, Karen Rice, said: “The closing date for orders is May 2, so people need to get in touch now. It’s a great chance to buy plants at an attractive price and raise money for charity at the same time.”

But the Lions are in need of some help themselves. They are on the lookout for 20 by 20 metre covered space to pick and pack the plants when they arrive on May 15 and 16.

Karen said: “The plants arrive in an HGV direct from the nursery and we need somewhere that we can keep the plants dry.

“Previously we've been able to obtain somewhere on a trading estate, but we haven't managed to do that this time.

“Ideally we could do with an empty unit, or part unit to pack the plants. We would require it from Friday afternoon on May 15 and all day Saturday May 16.

“Last year we raised £9,500, our highest total yet, and we'd love to break the £10,000 barrier this time. The more money we make, the more we can donate!”
