COMMUNITY radio station 102.5 The Bridge aims to bring politics to the people with an on-air question and answer session with Stourbridge MP candidates this Friday (May 1).

The station is hosting a live debate with the town’s Parliamentary hopefuls at its St John’s Church HQ, off St John’s Road, Stourbridge, from 7pm.

Members of the public, from first time voters to pensioners, are invited to attend the event to grill the candidates on the things that matter to them.

CEO, Alex Totney, said: “We really feel it’s important for the electorate to be able to speak to the person who’s going to represent them for the next five years. So many listeners tell us, even at election time, that the only contact they have with their prospective MP is a leaflet put through their door. We wanted to give people the chance to hold the candidates to account.”

Representatives from all five main parties – Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and The Green Party – have been invited to attend the event which will be broadcast live on 102.5 FM and streamed online through The Bridge’s website (thebridgeradio.net).

There will also be live tweeting and a live blog running throughout the evening.

Refreshments will be available, including real ales, and the event is free but tickets should be booked in advance online at http://thebridgeradio.net/elections/
