VISITORS to Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Park are being reminded that restoration work is still taking place on the site.

As part of the £3.1 million park improvement, some of the access points into the area are being temporarily closed over the coming days.

The Heath Lane entrance will be closed to cars between 7am and 5pm on Sunday, May 17, but visitors will be able to access the park via the Stanley Road entrance as normal throughout the day.

On Monday, May 18, work will be undertaken to improve the pedestrian access points and visitors are advised that they may need to follow redirection in order to gain entry to the park.

Borough Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member elect for environment, said: “I’m delighted to see that the lottery funded programme is progressing well at Mary Stevens Park.

“We are working to keep disruption to a minimum and thank our visitors for their patience as we undertake these important works.”

The Heath Lane gates, which are being restored into full working order, are anticipated to be returned to the site in July, while work is also being carried out to improve the park’s railings, bandstand, war memorial and pool.
