GREEN-fingered Adam Greathead dug deep to create a mound of cash after opening his garden to the public.

Visitors gathered in force over the weekend to view his unique Stambermill garden which the 25-year-old had adorned with flowers and sculptures.

The garden also contains a multitude of rare and unusual plants which Adam has cultivated over the years.

More than 150 people are estimated to have visited the garden last Saturday and Adam admitted: "It couldn't have gone any better.

"Some people came and then went and told their neighbours, who then came along as well."

Adam was raising money for Cancer Research UK and Wollaston Gardeners Guild, of which he is chairman.

Stourbridge News:

It's the fourth garden to be opened to the public by Guild members this summer and between them, they have now raised a total of £1,241.30, which will be donated to both causes.

Adam added: "I'm absolutely buzzing from the occasion and I reckon I might start opening my garden on an annual basis from now on."
